Advanced Placement (AP) Exams
Advanced Placement is a program in the United States and Canada, created by the College Board, that offers college-level curricula and examinations to high school students. Colleges and universities may grant advanced placement and course credit to students who obtain scores of 3, 4 or 5 on the examinations. AP credits can earn you higher enrollment status earlier in college, and shorten your time (and cost) for a 2-year or 4-year degree. AP exams are given each year in May.

- Many CHS AP teachers are holding review sessions leading up to AP exams.
- Beyond CHS has AP study guides you can check out, as does the Corvallis Public Library.
Preparing for 2021 DIGITAL AP Exams
Students may take Digital AP exams on a laptop, desktop or a school-managed chromebook. You cannot use smartphones, tablets or a personal chromebook. If the student is taking more than one digital AP exam, all the AP exams must be taken on the same device. Please check the testing requirements for testing devices. The AP 2021 Digital Testing App is now loaded to CSD-managed Chromebook. It is the student’s responsibility to load the AP 2021 Digital Testing App to personal laptops or desktops.
It is very important for all students taking digital AP exams to take care of four things before you can take a digital AP Exam:
Step 1 | Do Now | Download and Install the Digital Testing App on personal laptop or desktop computers (do not attempt to load onto CSD-managed Chromebooks) and Log In: View Step
Step 2 | Do Now | Practice with Example Questions in the Digital Testing App: View Step
Digital practice gives you the chance to practice with example questions in the same application you’ll use on exam day and confirm that your technology works as expected.
Step 3 | 1–3 Days Before Exam Day | Complete Exam Setup for Each Digital Exam: View Step
For each digital AP Exam you take, you must complete the exam setup step in the digital testing app. This step loads your exam onto the computer you’re going to test with. Completing this step is required 1-3 days before each exam. Without taking this step for each exam, you will not be able to test.
Step 4 | 30 Minutes Before the Exam | Check In to the Exam: View Step
On exam day, you must check in 30 minutes before the official start time of the exam—at 8:30 a.m. PDT for 9:00 a.m. exams and 12:30 p.m. PDT for 1:00 p.m. exams—to complete final pre-exam checks.

Other AP Q & A:
What if I am sick on the AP exam day, or have a family emergency?
If you are unable to take an AP exam due to serious illness (a doctor note may be required) or family emergency, please email the AP coordinator Lisa Corrigan within 24 hours of the missed exam. If there is another Digital exam scheduled at a later date, you will be moved to that date.
What happens if I do not cancel an exam and do not show up for the exam?
If you do not cancel an exam and do not show up for the paper and pencil exam at school, a $40 fee will be added to your school account.
Can I take the AP Spanish or AP German Language & Culture Exam at home?
AP World Languages do not have a virtual exam option, and must be taken at school on the assigned dates.
What do I do if I need a school Chromebook?
All CHS AP students have been issued a CSD Chromebook, and if you are in AP Spanish or AP German, they are waiting for you in the CHS main office. If you have not been issued one, please contact Brendon Poore and copy Lisa Corrigan.
What do I do if I can’t come into CHS to take an In-person AP Exam due to health reasons or quarantining?
For any in-person exams except for AP Spanish or AP German, students have until April 20 to request to move from an Paper & Pencil/In Person AP Exam to a Digital/At home exam, if health reasons prevent you from coming into CHS to take your exam. Please use this form to make that request and send a follow-up email to Lisa.Corrigan@Corvallis.K12.or.us alerting her to your request.
What do I do if my home environment is not conducive to Digital testing?
April 30 is the deadline to request help with home Internet connectivity. If your home connectivity is not reliable or your environment is not conducive to testing (too loud or distracting), you may fill out this form to request IT support or be approved to bring a fully-charged CSD-issued Chromebook and charging cable to take your exam in a classroom at CHS, if IT support determines that is the best solution. The digital AP exams this year are designed to be tolerant of WiFi and Internet connectivity fluctuations. If you are approved to take your digital exam at CHS, you will need to arrive at the testing classroom 45 minutes before the Digital Exam start time, and late arrivals will not be able to enter the testing room. We are not able to offer transportation to and from CHS for any digital AP exams taken at CHS.
What do I do if I need transportation assistance to get to an 8AM In-person AP Exam?
April 20 is the deadline to request transportation assistance to any morning (8:00AM start/7:30 check-in) Paper & Pencil/In person AP exam here.
