Corvallis Parks and Recreation – Youth Park Corps (YPC) Crew Worker, salary $9.25/hour. Must be 14-16 years old and able to provide proof of age, ability to work with others, able to safely use hand tools, ability to follow directions. Hours 7:30 – 4:00 p.m. Monday and Tuesday or Wednesday and Thursday. Students can pick up a Parks & Recreation Casual Application with YPC attachment at the Corvallis Parks and Recreation Office located at 1310 SW Avery Park Drive or the City of Corvallis website (Job Opportunities) at http://www.corvallisoregon.gov.

Scholarships

7/15/15 American Legion Baseball Scholarship. $500 scholarship and qualification for consideration for larger scholarships. Any team manager or head coach of an American Legion (post-affiliated) team may nominate a player for consideration. Applications available online at: http://www.legion.org/scholarships/baseball.

8/1/15 Chafee Education and Training Grant (ETG). $3000. Up to $3000 per academic year of assistance for youth in foster care. Deadline for 2015 fall semester assistance is 8/1/15. 9/14/15 Stand for Children Leadership Center, “Beat the Odds” Scholarship. $2500 scholarship renewable for up to 4 years for students who have been academically successful in spite of hardship (poverty, disability, homelessness, personal tragedy). Must be a senior in 2015-2016 school year with minimum 3.0 GPA. Recipients agree to share their story at the Beat the Odds award events and participate in all related publicity, including the creation of a short, inspirational video about their lives and accomplishments. Deadlines vary – First Robotics Scholarships. For 2015 FIRST has 150 scholarship providers, offering 900 individual scholarship opportunities. Many are institution specific, but some can be used anywhere. 35% are not specific to engineering.
