At Corvallis High School, we strive to create an environment that nurtures self-esteem, responsibility, sensitivity and life-long learning. Corvallis High School provides students with opportunities and support to acquire academic and life skills for success in our highly competitive global economy. CHS offers a balanced and challenging educational program insuring that our graduates possess the knowledge and skills to live productive and satisfying lives.

CHS 2016-2017 enrollment is 1252; 21.37% are Talented and Gifted and 3.03% are English Language Learners, 22.22% Free & Reduced lunch.

PARENT/COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Parents and other volunteers play an important role in contributing to student success at Corvallis High. Under professional direction, Beyond CHS, the school’s college and career center, is staffed largely by volunteers. Parents and community resources often participate in classrooms and programs to enrich the learning experience. The Spartan athletics program, with a long-standing tradition of excellence, is strongly supported by volunteers.

COMMUNITY

Corvallis, a medium-sized city located in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, is home to Oregon State University. The surrounding area’s economy is based on timber and agriculture. In addition to OSU (the county’s largest employer) Corvallis has a large number of high-tech employers, including Hewlett-Packard and international engineering firm CH2M-Hill. The educational background of Corvallis’s population is unusually high. With the city’s culture is dominated by the university and high-tech businesses, public schools in Corvallis enjoy a supportive and involved community.

Corvallis School District serves 6400 students in grades K-12. The district has seven elementary schools (K-5), two middle schools (6-8),
one combined elementary/middle schools (K-8), two high schools (9-12).

ACADEMICS, STAFF & CURRICULUM

Corvallis High School is distinctive because we have many award-winning teachers and students and a culturally diverse student body. Numerous CHS graduates continue to teach, work, and learn at their alma mater, attesting to its positive and energizing environment. CHS is a place where all are welcome; students find a great balance of challenge and support.

Corvallis High also offers Advanced Placement courses in 12 areas, 6 honor classes, as well as courses that earn students college credit through agreements with Linn-Benton Community College. English composition is an integral part of requirements at each grade level. A variety of work-based learning opportunities allow students to see the connections between school and the world of work.

Corvallis High School employs 60 certified classroom teachers, 4 counselors and 50 support staff.
